Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq barred from playing domestic cricket

Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq have been barred from playing domestic cricket after failing to submit mandatory fitness test reports, according to media reports.

Citing sources, the reports said that the two players will not be able to feature in the President’s Trophy Grade-I tournament as they did not undergo the required fitness tests.

Under Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) rules, players are required to submit fitness test reports to be eligible for first-class cricket. The PCB has not received fitness reports for Rizwan and Imam from their respective departmental teams, preventing them from representing their sides.

The President’s Trophy is scheduled to begin on Friday in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Abbottabad and Peshawar.

Imam was scheduled to lead OGDCL against PTV, while Rizwan was expected to captain Sui Gas in the opening round in the absence of Shan Masood. The latest development comes as both players are also facing an inquiry, putting further uncertainty over their immediate domestic cricket prospects.

The PCB has made it mandatory for players to feature in at least five domestic matches. With Rizwan and Imam now unable to play in the tournament, their continued inclusion in the PCB’s central contracts could also come under question.
