A local court in Karachi sentenced a man to nine years in prison after finding him guilty of blackmailing a TikTok star by circulating her explicit photos online.
The Judicial Magistrate East also imposed a fine of Rs60,000 and warned that if the fine is not paid, the punishment of the accused will be extended.
The plaintiff successfully proved the charges against the accused in court.
The TikTok star had filed a complaint with the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle after the suspect blackmailed her with explicit photos.
In her complaint, the TikTok star stated that the suspect invited her to his house, where she went with her mother.
The suspect allegedly spiked their drinks, causing them to lose consciousness, during which he took obscene photos of them.
When the woman and her mother regained consciousness, the accused showed them the inappropriate photos on his phone, which he also shared with others.
Following her complaint to the FIA, the suspect was swiftly arrested and later sentenced under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
The court declared that the accused had severely damaged the woman’s reputation and honour.
