At least 10 people were killed in an armed attack on a copper and gold project site in Balochistan's Chagai District after unidentified gunmen targeted workers at the site, media reports said, citing officials.

In a statement, National Resources Limited (NRL) said that the assault took place on Wednesday evening. It added that security personnel, including the Frontier Corps, responded quickly, secured the site and began a clearance operation.

The company did not provide details about casualties. However, local authorities confirmed that deaths had occurred.

“At least 10 people were killed in the incident, including a Turkish national, six workers, and three guards,” a local administration official said as quoted by AFP.

No group has so far claimed responsibility. However, attacks by separatist groups in Balochistan have increased in recent years, particularly targeting mining and infrastructure projects.
