Lahore man kills cousin for stopping him from drinking alcohol at wedding event

A wedding event in Lahore turned deadly when a man reportedly killed his female cousin in a rage after she tried to stop him from drinking alcohol, it emerged on Friday.

The alleged attacker, identified as Arif, was consuming intoxicated drinks at his maternal cousin, Faisal’s mehndi ceremony, held on Umar Farooq Road.

As per the details of the incident, the groom's sister, Sobia asked Arif to stop drinking, however, he became enraged and fired shots at her.

The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital immediately, however, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. 

According to police, the 30-year-old victim recently got married in a nikah ceremony, and her wedding festivities were planned for the coming days.

The police transported the victim’s body to the morgue and launched raids to apprehend the suspect.
