The Karachi police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a foreign woman in Defence Housing Authority (DHA), according to a media report.
Quoting South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Raza, the report said that the suspect was taken into custody a day after the Darakhshan police registered an FIR on the woman's complaint.
The woman works as a medical assistant in cardiology in the United States. She arrived in Pakistan on November 13, 2025, and had been staying in DHA Phase VI.
The case was registered under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with the offence of rape. According to the FIR, the complainant alleged that the incident occurred in the early hours of July 17 after she allowed a man accompanying her home to have a drink at her apartment.
She told police she later regained awareness and alleged that the man was sexually assaulting her. The FIR states that she resisted, screamed and struck the suspect, who then fled the apartment on a motorcycle.
The complainant said nearby residents came to her aid after hearing her cries and helped her return to her apartment. She further alleged that the suspect later returned to retrieve his mobile phone, prompting another confrontation before he fled again.
