A 40-year-old man was killed by his friend after a heated argument in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in the wee hours of Sunday, police said.
According to Darakhshan police station, the victim, identified as Humayun Muhammad Ali, was shot dead by his friend, Fahad Khan.
DIG South Syed Asad Raza said Humayun and Fahad had some arguments for a couple of months, and the presence of the suspect in a meeting of six friends at an apartment in Block 9, late on Saturday night made the suspect angry.
As per the details provided by eyewitnesses, the discussion between the duo turned into a feud, and Humayun slapped Fahad.
"We intervened to resolve the clash but Fahad went outside and returned with a pistol and opened fire at Humayun," the friends said.
Humayun and his other friend Javed got injured in the incident and were shifted to a nearby hospital.
"But, the suspect chased the injured, intercepted their vehicle on Street 23 and then started firing again. He hit 11 shots with his 9mm pistol," police said.
Following reaching the hospital, the doctors declared Humayun dead, while Javed is under treatment at the facility.
Later, the slain’s body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where the family refused a post-mortem examination.
Police said the suspect managed to flee with his family, but his car was recovered from Khayaban-e-Muhafiz.
The case was registered against the suspect under section 302 (punishment of murder) and 324 (attempt to commit murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
