Man who robbed mother, son arrested in injured condition in Karachi

A suspected robber who allegedly robbed a mother and her son while they were standing on a road near Power House Chowrangi in North Karachi has been arrested in an injured condition following a police encounter.

The suspect, who was arrested injured during an encounter with Boat Basin police, was found to be allegedly involved in the robbery in North Karachi in which a mobile phone was snatched from a mother and her son.

Police said the suspect had allegedly carried out the robbery alone at gunpoint. Footage of the incident later went viral on social media, clearly showing the suspect’s face.

Boat Basin police arrested the suspect, identified as Muhammad Talha alias Ali, in an injured condition following an encounter near Itwar Bazaar in Clifton Block 1 during the night between Friday and Saturday.

SHO Boat Basin Riaz Niazi said a weapon and ammunition were recovered from the injured suspect. The motorcycle recovered from his possession had allegedly been snatched within the jurisdiction of Frere Police Station, and a case had already been registered over the incident.

He said an investigation revealed that Talha alias Ali had allegedly robbed a mother and her son at gunpoint near Power House Chowrangi in North Karachi in recent days. During questioning, the suspect allegedly confessed to his involvement in the robbery.

According to police, the arrested suspect is a habitual offender who had previously been arrested and imprisoned in connection with various crimes.

Boat Basin police have registered a case against the suspect, while further investigation is underway to determine his possible involvement in other criminal activities.
