Motorcyclist killed after being hit by tanker in Karachi; vehicle set ablaze

A 45-year-old motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a speeding water tanker near University Road on Friday, prompting an angry crowd to set the vehicle on fire.

According to rescue officials, the deceased was identified as Saad. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.

Witnesses said the fatal crash sparked outrage among bystanders, who set the water tanker ablaze shortly after the incident.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, while law enforcement officials brought the situation under control.

Police said an investigation had been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident, adding that evidence was being collected from the scene.

The latest fatality comes amid growing public concern over accidents involving heavy vehicles, particularly water tankers, in Karachi. Authorities recently introduced a barcode-based monitoring system for water tankers in an effort to improve oversight and enhance road safety.
