Newlywed couple looted at gunpoint in Shikarpur

In a shocking incident, a newlywed couple and the people attending their reception were deprived of their valuables at gunpoint in Shikarpur, police said.
The incident was reported on the Indus Highway near Khanpur, Shikarpur. The wedding reception was on its way to Punjab from Khanpur when armed men stopped the vehicles and looted them.
The armed robber fled the crime scene by taking advantage of darkness.
Later the people staged a sit-in that resulted in long queues of vehicles at the highway.
The area police assured the affected people of recovering their valuables. Crime rate in Sindh especially in Karachi is increasing.
As pert, the Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) report released for October, the city witnessed over 7,000 reported incidents of various crimes during the period from October 1 to October 31.
Among the notable figures, the report highlights that 817 motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint, while another 4,396 motorcycles were reported stolen from different areas of the city. Vehicle-related crimes included the seizure of 25 vehicles and the theft of 182 vehicles.
Mobile phone snatching remained a concern, with the report indicating 2,446 incidents reported during the month of October. These statistics underscore the persistent challenges in addressing street crimes and ensuring public safety in Karachi.
The CPLC officials have been actively monitoring and reporting on crime trends in the city, providing valuable insights into the security situation. The surge in motorcycle-related crimes, including snatching and theft, indicates an ongoing challenge that authorities are working to address.
