In another case of gender-based violence, a man in Nowshera killed his sister over a minor argument during Fajr prayers, it emerged on Saturday.

The Afghan refugee family resided in the Hakimabad area of Nowshera, according to details shared by the police.

The father of the siblings, Mewa Gul, filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the police. He stated that he was in the house with other family members, including his victim daughter Asma.

Everyone was asleep in their rooms during the incident, he informed the law enforcers.

His son Hamza went to wake up Asma for morning prayers, and they started arguing.

The father of the victim girl further said that Hamza shot and killed his sister Asma in a fit of rage before fleeing the scene.

Police said they recovered the pistol used in the incident and launched a search for the accused. The incident is being investigated in various ways.

Earlier in a similar incident, a woman in Faisalabad was strangled to death by her husband over suspicions of extramarital affairs.

According to the police, the incident occurred in Chak No 595-GB. The culprit suspected his wife of having illicit relations.

The accused strangled his wife to death with a shawl.

Police gathered forensic evidence and launched an investigation. The deceased woman's body was shifted to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
