Okara woman tortured to death by husband, mother-in-law

In another incident of gender-based violence, a woman in Okara was allegedly strangled to death by her husband and mother-in-law over a domestic dispute, it emerged on Sunday.

The horrific incident took place in Khalid Town.

The victim, identified as Amina, was married to Imran, who allegedly tortured her with the help of his mother.

Following her death from the physical assault, Amina’s husband informed her family members, who reside in Kasur, that their daughter had passed away.

Amina's father, Iqbal, reached Okara with his wife and other family members, and upon seeing his daughter’s body, he immediately informed the police.

The B Division police arrived at the scene and took the body into custody.

The deceased was taken to the hospital for a post-mortem, while the police registered a murder case based on the father’s complaint.

According to the first information report (FIR), the victim's father alleged that his daughter was strangled to death by her husband, Imran, and his mother.

District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Rashid Hidayat took notice of the incident, instructing the authorities to arrest the accused and conduct a fair investigation.

The accused are still absconding while police have launched a search operation to arrest them.
