Armed robbers continued to strike in the metropolis with complete impunity as they killed a Pakistan army officer for resisting robbery in Karachi.

According to details, the distressing incident happened on March 31 in the Shershah area of the port city.

Police said the robbers shot four bullets at the victim, identified as Major Saad, during a mugging attempt in Karachi.

The victim was rushed to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Malir for medical assistance, where he succumbed to his injuries after nine days.

Ruthless robbers have killed almost 20 people for showing resistance during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to reports, 6,780 street crime incidents were reported in the port city in one month.

Sources said that 20 vehicles were snatched at gunpoint and more than 130 others were stolen.

Almost 830 motorcycles were snatched and 4,200 others were stolen during Ramadan. 

As many as 1,600 mobile phones were snatched from the citizens in Karachi.
