An inhumane incident unfolded in Punjab’s Muzaffargarh, where a husband and his family members allegedly tortured a pregnant woman, leaving her severely injured and throwing her out of the house in critical condition, according to police.

The eight-month-pregnant victim was allegedly beaten with axes and rods by her husband and in-laws, resulting in multiple fractures to her arms and legs.

Following the torture, when her situation worsened, she was thrown her out of the house. She was transported to the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital on the complaint of local residents.

Police reported that the woman claimed she was subjected to torture due to suspicions about her character.

Following the incident, a first information report (FIR) was registered against five, including the woman’s husband, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and son.

Notably, the woman’s family refused to pursue legal action despite the severe abuse.

As of now, none of the suspects have been arrested as they fled the scene. According to the police, raids were being conducted to arrest the miscreants.

Earlier, a 30-year-old pregnant woman was brutally murdered by her mother-in-law in Daska. Her father alleged that his daughter’s sisters-in-law were jealous of her and accused her of practising witchcraft on their brother.

Shabbir Ahmed, a former ASI and father of the deceased, said he had married her daughter to Qadeer Ahmed four years ago.

“Qadeer was working in Saudi Arabia, they have a two-year-old son,” he said, adding, “My daughter was living with her husband, she returned to Pakistan for 15 days, and I left her at her in-laws' home at Kotli Meeran 10 days ago.”
