QUETTA: People have blocked the Airport Road near BA Mall in Quetta since Monday following the violent attack in the Hanna Urak area, in which four people lost their lives while many more were wounded.
They put the body of the dead person on the road and sat there, and it is still ongoing, causing disruption in one of the most busy roads of the city. They were saying that they will not end their protest until actions were taken against the perpetrators.
According to local sources, the incident took place when some unidentified armed people allegedly confronted locals living in the Hanna Urak area. The residents of the area are upset at the authorities for not maintaining law and order in the area.
Political leaders and top government officials, such as Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti of Balochistan, also visited the victims and the local community members.
They sympathized with the residents and condemned the violence that had been committed against them, adding that no one should be made to suffer under the continuous threat of attacks by gunmen.
They promised to do their part in helping resolve the issue by bringing up the concerns of the locals to concerned authorities and helping out with any initiatives intended to secure the area and punish those who were behind the attack.
The protest continues, and officials are constantly negotiating with the protestors in order to clear the way to open Airport Road once again.
