A local court in Hyderabad on Saturday approved the bail of policeman Mir Hassan, who brutally tortured a woman and her children on a train heading to Lala-Musa from Karachi on April 7.
Judicial Magistrate Munir Ahmed granted bail to the suspect against the surety bond of Rs35,000.
The disturbing incident came to the fore after the video of the cop thrashing a woman went viral on social media.
In the viral video, a policeman can be seen slapping and manhandling the woman, while the onlookers remain silent on the issue.
According to sources, the incident happened when the constable came to check a ticket of the woman.
Sources said that Hassan was told by the passengers that the victim was travelling without a ticket.
Upon showing resistance during the inspection, the constable physically assaulted the woman in front of her children.
Following the arrest, Hassan said that he tortured the woman because the latter had kidnapped the children.
Later, the cop confessed that he assaulted the woman after she misbehaved with him.
Taking notice of the incident, Inspector General Railways ordered to take strict action against the cop.
DIG Railways Abdullah Sheikh suspended the cop and directed the authorities to investigate the matter.
