Rehana Magsi has become the first-ever female candidate to contest elections from Balochistan's Jhal Magsi. Rehana will contest polls from PB-11 Jhal Magsi constituency from Jamot Qaumi Movement (JQM), a local party.

Despite the influential political background of Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi, who has served as both governor and chief minister of the province, Rehana Magsi emphasizes the absence of essential services like education, healthcare, and water.

Engaging in an extensive door-to-door campaign, she travels through villages on motorcycles with the support of her brother and husband.

In a competitive field, Rehana Magsi stands out as the sole female contender among 16 male candidates vying for a seat in the Balochistan Assembly.

Meanwhile, in KPK Buner district, Dr. Saveera Parkash, the first woman from the minority Hindu community, is also making her presence felt by participating in provincial elections.

Despite advancements in awareness and technology, women are actively asserting their rights and participating in politics. However, breaking away from traditional gender roles in a predominantly male-controlled society presents significant challenges.

Women face substantial societal and familial pressure, rooted in religious and societal norms, when attempting to step outside their homes, assert their rights, and pursue public offices.
