Woman dies after alleged arson attack by in-laws in Islamabad

A woman who was allegedly set on fire by her in-laws has died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital.
According to sources at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), 32-year-old Saima was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Burns Centre.
Hospital sources said she was shifted to PIMS from Abbottabad on 19 June in a critical condition.
Medical officials reported that approximately 98 per cent of her body had suffered severe burn injuries. They added that smoke inhalation had also caused significant damage to her lungs.
According to hospital sources, only her feet were relatively less affected, while the rest of her body had been severely burnt, with deep tissue damage reported.
Sources further stated that she had allegedly been set on fire by her brother-in-law, who is said to have poured oil on her before igniting it.
