Young man recently returned from Dubai killed resisting robbery in Karachi

A young man, who came from Dubai to meet his family and friends, was shot dead by robbers in Karachi's Baldia Town for refusing to hand over his belongings. With this latest incident, the street crime death toll in the metropolis has reached 13 in the first two months of 2025.

The deceased, identified as 28-year-old Muhammad Omer, returned to Pakistan from Dubai a month ago to reunite with his loved ones.

“Yesterday evening, Omer and his friend were sitting on the street where they lived when two armed men on a motorcycle came to them. The robbers bega snatching money and mobile phones and opened fire when Omer refused to hand over them his purse and mobile phone,” said Khalil Yar, the deceased's cousin.

Following the incident, he was rushed to the trauma centre, Civil Hospital in a critical situation, where he succumbed to injuries. 

Khalil Yar said Omer, who hailed from Darra Adam Khail in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had been running a clothes business with his father in Dubai. He had come to Pakistan just a month ago. He was the second of five brothers and was unmarried.

Police, after legal formalities, handed over the deceased body to heirs. However, the family urged the authorities to take the culprits to justice soon. 

Earlier in Korangi, a man was shot dead and his son-in-law wounded in a personal dispute.

Zaman Town SHO Ateeq Rehman said that the victims were standing outside their home when two suspects riding a motorcycle opened fire on them and fled. Mateen suffered two bullet wounds, including one on his chest, while Kamran sustained a bullet wound on his leg.
