Former Pakistani pacer Waqar Younis took a dig at former national cricket team coach Mohammad Hafeez’s statement criticising the performance of 1990s cricketers in major tournaments.
Hafeez remarked that while the era produced many “megastars,” it did not result in any ICC event victories.
Younis took to X, where he shared a picture with the "King of Swing" Wasim Akram, captioning it, “90’s ka Londa.”
The post featured a chart highlighting the duo’s achievements, showing that together they played 191 Test matches and 618 ODIs, taking a total of 1,705 wickets and scoring 8,594 runs. It also noted that they achieved five-wicket hauls in 66 matches and took 10 wickets in a single match 10 times.
The former cricketer added the phrase "Not Bad" along with a hashtag and tagged Wasim Akram in the post.
His response came after former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez criticized the country’s 1990s cricket stars for failing to secure major ICC titles despite their immense talent and dominance in the sport.

Hafeez argued that while the team was filled with "megastars," their inability to win an ICC title failed to inspire future generations.
Analysing the Green Shirts' performance in the ongoing Champions Trophy, Hafeez pointed out that despite strong performances in World Cups from 1996 to 2003, they consistently fell short.
He emphasised that although the players from that era were incredibly talented, their failure to win an ICC event has had a lasting impact on Pakistani cricket.
The conversation took a lighter turn when Shoaib Akhtar joined in, attributing Pakistan's historical dominance over India in ODIs to his playing era. Akhtar proudly stated, "Those 73 ODIs that Pakistan won against India, it was us who won them."
