After Imad Wasim, Muhammad Amir retires from international cricket

After all-rounder Imad Wasim, left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir has also announced his retirement, bringing his international cricket career to an end.
“Announcement of my retirement from international cricket,” Amir shared a post on the micro-blogging website X, considering honoured, having experience playing all three formats in cricket.
He said he has taken this “difficult decision to retire from international cricket after careful consideration.”
Amir believed that his retirement would open the path for fresh talent, stating, “I feel this is the right time for the next generation to take the baton and elevate Pakistan cricket to new heights.”
In an emotional message, he expressed gratitude towards the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), his family and friends and all fans who brought him to the peak of the success.
The 32-year-old cricketer has taken the decision to see off international cricket a second time. Earlier, at the age of 28 in December 2020, he said he could no longer play under the management and that he was being “tortured mentally.”
In 2011, for his part in a spot-fixing scandal, he served three months in prison and also faced a five-year ban from playing all forms of cricket before returning to the Pakistan squad in January 2016.
Amir has played 36 tests, 61 One-Day Internationals and 50 T20s for Pakistan since his debut in 2009.
