Argentine footballer Lucas Trejo loses wife, 2 kids in Venezuela quakes

The wife and two children of Argentine footballer Lucas Trejo have died after the powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela, his club confirmed.

Trejo, who plays for Club Sport Maritimo La Guaira, had spent three days searching for his wife Yanina and children, Aaron and Ainhoa, before rescue teams recovered their bodies from the rubble.

The club announced the deaths in a message shared on Instagram, expressing sorrow over the loss and offering support to the player and his family.

Trejo, 38, was attending a training camp in Caracas when the twin earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5, hit on Wednesday.

He rushed back to his home in La Guaira, one of the areas worst affected by the disaster.

According to his brother-in-law, Ricardo Ardiles, Trejo returned to find his home completely destroyed.

Venezuelan authorities said the disaster has killed nearly 1,500 people, while thousands are still missing.
