Asia Cup 2025: Pakistan vs India clash likely on September 7 in Dubai

The much-anticipated cricket showdown between traditional rivals Pakistan and India in the Asia Cup 2025 has been officially scheduled.

Despite rising tensions following the Pahalgam incident, rumors of Asia Cup 2025 being cancelled have been dispelled, and confirmation has arrived that the event will proceed as planned in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to the latest reports, the Asia Cup will begin on either September 4 or 5, while the blockbuster Pakistan vs India clash is set for September 7 in Dubai.

The tournament will follow the T20 format, featuring a group stage followed by a Super Four round. If both sides advance, a potential second meeting could occur on September 14, with the possibility of a third encounter in the final scheduled for September 21.

Though India was initially awarded hosting rights, security concerns and political tensions led both nations to mutually agree to shift the tournament to the UAE. However, India will retain its official status as host.

An Indian broadcaster confirmed, “The tournament is scheduled for September, and our team will participate.”

As reported by The Tribune, an Indian representative said, “No matter how strained relations get, India has never declined to play against Pakistan in ICC events — primarily because of the massive commercial value, with media rights mostly held by Indian broadcasters.”

It’s worth noting that the last Pakistan-India face-off occurred during the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, also held in Dubai.

India has not toured Pakistan since 2008, repeatedly opting for neutral venues due to political reasons.

Despite diplomatic hurdles, the confirmation of the Asia Cup 2025 has thrilled fans, eager to witness the high-octane rivalry return to the international stage.
