England Under-19 defeated Pakistan Under-19 by 37 runs in an ICC Under-19 World Cup match played in Harare on Wednesday.
Chasing a target of 211 runs, Pakistan were bowled out for 173 in the 47th over. Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field, a decision that initially paid dividends as their bowlers restricted England to 210 all out in 47 overs.
Falconer top-scored for England with 66 runs, anchoring the innings after early pressure from the Pakistani bowlers. Ahmed Hussain led Pakistan’s bowling attack with three wickets, while Ali Raza, Abdul Subhan and Momin Qamar claimed two wickets each.
In reply, Pakistan’s chase got off to a shaky start as openers Sameer Minhas and Mohammad Shayan were dismissed with the total on 23. The middle order failed to build partnerships, with Usman Khan scoring six runs and Ahmed Hussain contributing 12 before getting out.
Despite resistance from captain Farhan Yousuf, who top-scored with 65 runs, Pakistan were unable to recover from the early setbacks and were eventually bowled out well short of the target.
For England, Alex Green, Albert and James Minto picked up two wickets each, playing a key role in restricting Pakistan’s batting line-up.
