Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf was caught engaging in a heated debate with a fan at a private hotel in the United States on Tuesday.
The video of the altercation also went viral on social media, garnering attention from fans and critics.
In the video, the 30-year-old pacer was seen strolling with his wife, Muzna, when a fan allegedly asked for a selfie with Haris.
According to reports, the speedster refused to take the picture, which did not go well with the fan.
In response, the fan termed him rude, which angered Haris and he became aggressive towards the Pakistani man.
The video showed Rauf running towards the fan despite Muzna and others present on the spot trying to hold him back.
Following the incident, the pacer has spoken up in his defence, saying he would not "hesitate to respond" to anything against his family.

“[...] as public figures, we are open to receiving all kinds of feedback from the public. They are entitled to support or criticise us. Nevertheless, when it comes to my parent and my family, I will not hesitate to respond accordingly. It is important to show respect towards people and their families, irrespective of their professions,” he said in a post on X.
The cricket fraternity also came forward to condemn the act and to support Haris by posting in his favour on their microblogging site accounts.
Following are the posts of some of the cricketers:

It is irrelevant whether the person who disrespected Haris Rauf was from Pakistan or India. What truly matters is that this individual lacked values and manners. No one has the right to disrespect any human being, especially in front of their family members. Such appalling…

It is absolutely disgraceful how Haris Rauf was treated. No one has the right to belittle and disrespect another person. I'm also shocked by those who have shared this video. Why prioritize a few likes over our humanity? Stay strong, Haris. We stand united with you.

It is the right of fans to criticise us for performances. We accept it and try to learn from it. It is not OKAY to attack anyone personally in their family’s presence, unacceptable. How would u feel if someone attacked u personally while with family? #HarisRauf @HarisRauf14

Fans should know how to respect the boundaries between personal & professional life of a cricketer. These are basic ethics & a humble request 🙏

However, sports journalists and fans found Rauf's post unprofessional and put the blame on the sportsmen's managers for destroying their careers.

Players' agents are destroying our players' careers by doing baseless posts from their accounts. They are trying to shift the narrative by using the Haris Rauf incident. While what happened with Haris was wrong and unacceptable, this is a failed attempt to make fans forget…
