Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Noman Ali has made a significant move in the latest ICC Test bowlers rankings, climbing four spots to secure the fifth position.
His rise follows a remarkable 10-wicket haul in the recently concluded Test match against the West Indies in Multan, which played a key role in Pakistan leveling the series 1-1.
Noman’s outstanding performance has earned him 806 rating points, making him the 12th Pakistan bowler to surpass the 800-point mark in the history of ICC Test bowling rankings. His ability to break through the West Indies batting line-up with consistent and precise deliveries earned him widespread acclaim and a notable jump in the rankings.
At 38 years old, Noman has established himself as a dependable figure in Pakistan's bowling attack, consistently delivering match-winning performances. His recent climb is a testament to the strength of Pakistan’s spin bowling unit, which has become increasingly influential in the longer format of the game.
In other updates from the ICC rankings, West Indies’ Jomel Warrican made a significant leap, rising 16 places to 25th following his impressive 19-wicket haul in the series, earning him the Player of the Series award. Meanwhile, India’s Jasprit Bumrah continues to hold the top spot in the Test bowlers rankings, thanks to his outstanding performances against Australia.
In the T20I rankings, England’s Adil Rashid reclaimed the No. 1 spot for bowlers after his strong performance against India, while India’s Varun Chakravarthy saw a remarkable rise, jumping 25 places to secure the fifth position. England’s Jofra Archer also made a notable climb, moving up 13 spots to sixth.
For batters, Australia’s Travis Head remains the top-ranked T20I batter, but India’s promising young left-hander, Tilak Varma, has moved up to second place and is rapidly closing the gap on Head. If Varma overtakes Head, he will become the youngest-ever player to top the T20I batting rankings, surpassing the record previously held by Pakistan’s Babar Azam.
