Pakistan has defeated India three times in five Champions Trophy encounters

The ICC Champions Trophy will witness its most anticipated clash as Pakistan and India face off today in Dubai.
Cricket fever has reached its peak, with fans eagerly awaiting an intense battle between the two arch-rivals.
Looking at the history of their encounters in the Champions Trophy, Pakistan holds an advantage over India.
The two teams have met five times in previous editions, with Pakistan securing victory on three occasions, while India has emerged victorious twice.
The first meeting between the two teams in the tournament took place in 2004 in Birmingham, where Pakistan, under the leadership of Inzamam-ul-Haq, defeated India by three wickets.
Batting first, India posted a total of 200 runs before being bowled out in the 50th over. Pakistan successfully chased the target, reaching 201 runs with four balls to spare. Mohammad Yousuf played a crucial role, scoring 81 runs and earning the Man of the Match award.
The second encounter occurred in 2009 in Centurion, where Pakistan, led by Younis Khan, triumphed over India with a 54-run victory.
Pakistan set a formidable target of 303 runs, and in response, India was bowled out for 248 in the 45th over. Shoaib Malik’s outstanding innings of 128 runs secured him the Man of the Match title.
In 2013, the two teams clashed once again in Birmingham, where India registered its first victory against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy.
The rain-affected match saw Pakistan dismissed for 165 runs in the 40th over under the captaincy of Misbah-ul-Haq. India, chasing the revised target, was at 102 for 2 in 19.1 overs when play was halted due to rain, and the match was awarded to India via the DLS method.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, with his impressive bowling performance, was named Man of the Match.
The 2017 edition saw two encounters between the sides.
The first was in the group stage in Birmingham, where India dominated, setting a target of 319 runs in 48 overs. Pakistan, in reply, managed only 164 runs in 34 overs, resulting in a 124-run victory for India.
Yuvraj Singh’s quickfire 53 off 32 balls earned him the Man of the Match award.
The most significant showdown between the two teams came in the final of the 2017 Champions Trophy in London, where Pakistan, under the captaincy of Sarfaraz Ahmed, delivered a stunning performance, defeating India by 180 runs to clinch their maiden Champions Trophy title.

Batting first, Pakistan posted a commanding total of 338 runs for the loss of four wickets.
In response, India was bowled out for 158 runs in the 31st over. Fakhar Zaman’s century, scoring 114 runs, earned him the Man of the Match award, while Hasan Ali was named Player of the Series for his exceptional bowling performance, claiming 13 wickets throughout the tournament.
As Pakistan and India prepare to face each other for the sixth time in the Champions Trophy, anticipation is at an all-time high.
