Pakistan started its T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with two consecutive defeats against the USA and India, landing in a scenario where Green Shirts will depend on other team's performance.

Babar-XI first faced defeat at the hands of the debutant USA by five runs in a super-over thriller on June 6 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

Last night, India triumphed over Pakistan by six runs in a high-voltage match of the ongoing mega event at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

The Men in Green will lock horns with Ireland and Canada in their upcoming matches of the group stage.

The USA and India are at the top of the Group A points table with four points as both teams have secured victories in their previous matches.

On the other hand, Pakistan stand in fourth position with zero points and and minus run rate after losing two matches.

If Green Shirts want to sail through the group stage, they must win their next two games against Ireland and Canada.

But only winning upcoming matches will not ease conditions for Pakistan. If the USA win its next two matches, Pakistan will be out of the tournament.

Even if Pakistan manage to secure four points in the group standings, the scenario will not become favourable for them as they would need a better net run rate than the US to sail in the Super Eight stage.
