The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has prepared a plan in case the government decides against the national team's participation in the T20 World Cup, media reports said on Sunday.

Citing sources, they said that a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is scheduled this evening in this regard.

An announcement regarding Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup is expected after the meeting.

The reports said that a final decision on whether Pakistan will feature in the World Cup is likely to be made today, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif set to take the call.

They added that once a decision is taken on participation, the PCB will move ahead with plans to unveil the national team’s kit. However, if Pakistan decides not to participate in the World Cup, the kit launch will be cancelled.

In case of non-participation, the reports said that the PCB has already drawn up an alternative plan. Under this plan, a four-team tournament will be organised in Lahore.

The teams will be formed by dividing players from the Pakistan national team and the Shaheens Under-18 squad into four separate sides, they added.
