Pakistan’s hosting of the T20 World Cup 2024 could face a substantial financial setback of Rs10 million if India’s blind cricket team decides not to participate.
The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) announced that it was pulling its team out of the fourth edition of the T20 World Cup, set to be held in Pakistan.
Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) stated that the women blind T20 World Cup is set to be held in India, and Pakistan will stress the International Cricket Council (ICC) to shift it to another country instead of India.
PBCC was also ready to host the minus India World Cup.
“In 2022, India had deprived us of the World Cup, and now they were averting their team from travelling to Pakistan to participate in T20I WC,” said the Chairman of the PBCC, Syed Sultan Shah.
He said that Pakistan would raise this issue in the meeting of the World Blind Cricket Council.
Shah said that if the sport doesn’t separate from politics, several countries worldwide will suffer. According to the UN Charter, special people should be treated exceptionally.
Moreover, he said that the ICC would make the final decision, but “until when will we continue to be blackmailed by India? It’s not possible that we can go to play wherever the Indian government wants, and they won’t come.”
