A report published by British newspaper The Telegraph has claimed that funeral prayers for former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have been held in Tehran under strict security arrangements.

According to the publication, the funeral prayers reportedly took place on Thursday and were attended by close family members and a limited number of government officials.

However, the report has not yet been independently verified by other international media outlets. Iranian authorities have also not issued any official statement or response regarding the claims so far.

The reports follow earlier claims that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed on 28 February during the first day of military strikes allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran.

According to the same reports, several senior Iranian military commanders and advisers were also killed in the attacks.

Those named include Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani and Major General Mohammad Pakpour.

The situation continues to remain unclear as no formal confirmation has been issued by Iranian state institutions regarding the reported funeral or the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
