A Belarusian tourist was arrested for violently attacking an Afghan child at Moscow airport, in an incident that shocked viewers and went viral on social media.

The distrubing video shared on X showed the man, identified as 31-year-old Vladimir Vitkov, walking up to the toddler and suddenly lifting and slamming him onto the floor with force.

The child had been briefly left alone while his parents were retrieving a pushchair from airport staff.

In the video, the toddler can be seen standing beside a travel bag when the attacker, dressed in a white shirt and shorts, calmly approached, waited for a moment, and then carried out the horrific act.

The child lay motionless on the floor as his parents rushed to his aid. His father immediately picked him up and sought medical assistance.

Airport security quickly intervened and apprehended the suspect at the scene before he could flee. Authorities charged Mistov with attempted murder, and medical tests reportedly found cannabis in his bloodstream.

The child has been hospitalised and is reportedly in critical condition, fighting for his life.

Ksenia Mishonova, Moscow Region’s Children's Ombudswoman, condemned the attack in strong terms, stating, “A drug-addled monster grabbed a toddler in the arrivals hall and threw him on the floor with all his might.

All this is incredibly difficult to bear. I hope the detained monster will receive the full severity of the law. I wish the child a speedy recovery. May the parents have the strength to survive this.”

During the initial investigation, the suspect failed to provide a clear motive for his actions and only stated, “I made mistakes like that.”

According to reports, the Afghan family had arrived in Moscow after fleeing Tehran and traveling through Afghanistan, only to face this horrifying tragedy upon landing.
