Dubai has announced plans to build its first 200-metre floating pedestrian bridge connecting its two popular beaches.

As per reports, the Dh355 million project will link Al Mamzar Beach and Jumeirah One Beach by constructing the bridge directly over the water.

The construction of the bridge is expected to be completed in 18 months. The project will allow visitors to experience stunning water views without getting wet.

In a video released by Dubai's urban planning committee, viewers got a glimpse of the project's design. It featured various restaurants and numerous floating platforms connected to the shore by small bridges.

The beach transformation will extend beyond the floating bridge. Visitors will be able to enjoy cycling and running tracks shaded by trees, along with dedicated areas for barbecue, children's play areas, beachside rest houses, and spaces for seasonal events.

To ensure a pleasant experience for visitors, Dubai Municipality will provide several amenities, including an irrigation system for maintaining greenery, a spacious parking lot, safety deposit boxes, Wi-Fi access, electronic screens, and a beach rescue service.

100 security cameras will be monitored by central control rooms to guarantee visitor safety.

As the public beaches undergo development, certain areas will be temporarily closed. However, safety measures will be implemented for open sections.

In a bid to combat rising sea levels, a major challenge for coastal cities worldwide, Dubai is adopting development measures to enhance its public beaches.

Over half a million cubic metres of sand will be used on beaches to withstand the effects of rising sea levels.
