France FM welcomes Pakistan-India ceasefire in call with Ishaq Dar

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot held a telephonic conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, expressing support for the recently announced ceasefire between Pakistan and India, according to the Foreign Office Spokesperson.
During the call, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, stating that the country had shown patience and restraint throughout the crisis and had only acted in self-defense, fully aligned with the UN Charter and international law.
Dar assured that Pakistan would continue to act responsibly to promote regional stability and prevent further escalation.
The French Foreign Minister welcomed the ceasefire, describing it as a positive and much-needed development.

He also expressed regret over the loss of innocent lives during the recent hostilities and urged both Pakistan and India to exercise maximum restraint moving forward.
Both leaders agreed on the importance of sustained diplomatic communication, including through multilateral forums, to manage tensions and build lasting peace in the region.
