Citing US President Donald Trump and Pakistani sources, New York Post reports that "good news" about the second round of talks between the US and Iran could emerge as early as Friday.

Officials in Islamabad told the US media outlet that mediation efforts with Tehran were showing signs of movement, suggesting that fresh negotiations could take place within the next “36 to 72 hours.”

Responding to a query from The Post, Trump also signalled cautious optimism, saying in a text message: “It’s possible! President DJT.”

The update comes a day after the US president announced an extension of the current ceasefire with Iran, saying it would remain in place until Tehran presents what he described as a “unified proposal.”

Sources in Pakistan said diplomatic engagement with Iran has continued in recent hours, with the timeline for possible talks based on ongoing backchannel efforts.

“The ceasefire is holding despite heightened rhetoric, indicating positive intent on both sides,” a Pakistani source said as quoted by the Post. “No military escalation from either side.”
