The Palestinian group Hamas announced on Tuesday that negotiations in Cairo had made progress on key disputed aspects of a Gaza ceasefire agreement with Israel.
According to Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem, the discussions resulted in mutually acceptable understandings on several contentious issues among the parties involved.
Qassem stated that Hamas and other Palestinian factions had approached the mediation efforts with flexibility and a constructive attitude. He noted that proposals put forward by mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye were considered in a spirit of responsibility aimed at ending the ongoing violence in Gaza.
He added that the next step depends on Israel and the Board of Peace, led by its executive director Nickolay Mladenov, to advance toward what he described as the full implementation of President Donald Trump's peace vision for Gaza.
According to Palestinian sources, Israel's military campaign in Gaza since October 2023 has resulted in nearly 73,000 deaths and more than 173,000 injuries, with women and children accounting for the majority of casualties.
The Gaza Health Ministry also reported that, despite a ceasefire that began on October 10, 2025, Israeli military operations have continued, leading to the deaths of 978 Palestinians and injuries to 3,097 others in repeated attacks.
