New York’s outgoing mayor, Eric Adams, visited Israel for the last time before handing over the charge of mayor to newly elected Zohran Mamdani.

During his visit to Occupied Jerusalem, he told the Jews that he “served” Israeli Jews during his tenure as leader of the United States’ largest city.

“I wanted to come back here to Israel and let you know that I served you as the mayor,” Adams said on Sunday during his visit.

He added that he wished to keep the title he values most, saying, “I’m your brother.”

Adams left New York on Saturday for what his office described as a “multi-day trip” to Israel, where met government officials and visit religious sites.

He is set to leave office on Jan. 1, 2026, when mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani will take over. Mamdani, 34, was elected on Nov. 4 and will become the first Muslim and South Asian mayor in the city’s history.
