Tehran has categorically denied the claims circulated in media that Israel carried out a missile attack on Iranian soil, Reuters reported on Friday.
"Explosions heard in Isfahan were a result of the activation of Iran's air defence systems," the publication said quoting an Iranian official.
Earlier today, US officials confirmed to the international media that Tel Aviv launched a missile attack on an Iranian military base in the Isfahan province early morning on Friday.
The attack was in response to Iran's April 13 missile and drone attack, US officials said.
On April 13, Iran launched over 300 drones in retaliation to the deaths of its key officials in the Damascus consulate air strike, which was reportedly carried out by Israel.
According to Iran’s state television, loud sounds of explosion were heard and three drones were intercepted near the city of Isfahan shortly after 4am local time.
After the reported blasts, flights were diverted or suspended across Tehran and Isfahan.
Iranian air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed these drones, as stated by the news agency.
However, Tel Aviv has maintained silence regarding the reported attacks and has refrained from commenting on the media updates.
