Iranian parliament speaker mocks Trump with ‘Make America Hungry Again’ post

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf mocked US President Donald Trump on Monday by sharing a graphic reading “Make America Hungry Again,” a play on Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.

The post came after Trump shared a Newsmax report that falsely attributed Ghalibaf with saying, “We Are Hungry, We Cannot Survive.”

In response, Ghalibaf highlighted statistics about hunger and food insecurity in the United States and accused Trump, without directly naming him, of using false claims to conceal his setbacks.

The exchange comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran. Last Wednesday, Trump announced plans for what he described as an unprecedented “maximum-pressure” campaign against Iran, warning that countries helping Tehran economically could face serious consequences.

The confrontation follows a series of military and diplomatic developments. The US and Israel launched strikes against Iran in late February, prompting Iranian retaliation before a ceasefire was reached in April.

In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum aimed at ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, though implementation later stalled over unresolved disagreements. Last month, the US resumed attacks on Iran, with Tehran responding by targeting US military facilities and equipment in several Arab countries.
