Israelis attempted to smuggle goats to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound to sacrifice them to celebrate Passover, according to a report of Times of Israel.
Police said that the suspects aged between 13 and 21 years, were detained with goats in their possession. They said that some lambs were concealed inside a baby carriage and a shopping bag.
An official statement said that the accused were shifted to a police station in Jerusalem. The lambs were confiscated and shifted for necessary veterinary treatment, it added.
At least 25 Zionist fanatics were arrested by Israeli occupation authorities as they attempted to sacrifice goats at the Al-Aqsa compound. One animal was found in a baby carriage.
In recent days, messages have been circulating on social media encouraging extremist Jewish elements to reach the al-Aqsa Mosque compound and lay the sacrifices of goats.
Hardliner religious groups, including “Returning to the Mount” have increasingly sought to carry out the lambs’ sacrifice at the holy site.
These groups make a request each year to carry out the ritual.
Last year, similar attempts were also made prior to Passover that sparked clashes at the holy site.
