Jemima Khan's mother passes away at 91

LONDON: Lady Annabel Goldsmith, the mother of Jemima Goldsmith and former mother-in-law of PTI founder Imran Khan, has passed away at the age of 91.

According to media reports, Lady Annabel was born on June 11, 1934, in London. She was the mother of six children, including Jemima Goldsmith and Zac Goldsmith, a former MP for Richmond Park.

Lady Annabel’s family endured personal tragedies — one of her sons died in West Africa, while another was killed by a lion.

Reports add that her husband named the Mayfair nightclub “Annabel’s” after her, which became a renowned venue frequented by members of the British royal family.

She was granted the title of “Lady Annabel” at just 15 years of age.

Her first marriage to Mark Birley lasted 21 years, after which she married Sir James Goldsmith in 1978.

Her son Zac Goldsmith was later appointed as a Lord and contested against Sadiq Khan for the position of London Mayor in 2016.

It may be recalled that Lady Annabel’s daughter, Jemima Goldsmith, married PTI founder Imran Khan in 1995.
