Man tied to pole assaulted on suspicion of stealing in India

In a distressing incident, a man was tied to a pole and was brutally tortured in the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh.

The video shared by a user named Hate Detector on social media platform X (Twitter) shows a man beating a suspect with steaks.

"In #UttarPradesh's #Saharanpur, a man suspected of theft was tied to a pole and brutally flogged using a stick by accused identified as Amit Sharma," the video captioned.

The exact location of the incident and the action by the authorities are yet to be known, but the video is going viral on social media, raising the grave rights violation in Modi's BJP-ruled India.

Earlier this year,  a 43-year-old woman, who worked as a maid, was allegedly tortured and assaulted by her employers over suspicion of theft in the Satbari area of Delhi.

The incident came to light when the woman registered a complaint with the Maidangarhi police.

According to her complaint, after her employer, Gulrej’s gold jewellery was stolen. Gulrej along with her sister-in-law, suspected that the robbery was done by one of the servants.

To find out the robber, they called a tantrik. The tantrik said that he would keep rice and chuna inside every servant’s mouth. According to him, whoever’s mouth turned red was the thief.
