Shooting declared terrorism as attackers identified as father and son, Sydney bondi beach

New South Wales Police stated in a press conference that the individuals responsible for the shooting incident at Bondi Beach have been identified. The attackers were confirmed to be a father and his son. One of the attackers was killed during the incident, while the other remains critically injured.
Sixteen people were killed, and around 40 people were wounded when two gunmen opened fire at a Jewish holiday celebration on Sunday at Bondi Beach, Sydney.
According to the New South Wales Police Commissioner, the attackers were identified as Sajid Akram, aged 50, and Naveed Akram, aged 24. Police further revealed that the suspects had legally owned firearms for more than 10 years under valid licenses.
Six weapons were recovered from the possession of the deceased attacker, and investigations are currently underway.
Australian police also confirmed the discovery of an improvised explosive device (IED) in a vehicle linked to the deceased suspect. “We have found an improvised explosive device in a car which is connected to the deceased offender,” New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said during the news conference.
