A 16-year-old Palestinian boy was shot and killed by an Israeli settler in the West Bank shortly after the funeral of another teenager, according to local officials.

Tuqu’ Mayor Mohammed al-Badan said that the incident occurred near the town’s main road, where a group of youths had gathered following the funeral of Ammar Sabah, also 16, who was killed a day earlier.

The mayor stated that the settler opened fire, fatally striking Muheeb Jibril in the head.

An Israeli security source confirmed that an Israeli civilian fired shots after masked individuals allegedly threw stones and bottles at Israeli civilian vehicles traveling along a main road in the area.

The source said the shooter was taken in for questioning by Israeli police. Police authorities did not issue an immediate response to requests for comment.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, Ammar Sabah was killed on Monday during an Israeli military operation in Tuqu’. The Israeli military said the incident is under investigation, adding that soldiers were targeted with stones and responded using crowd-control measures before opening fire.

The occupied West Bank is home to millions of Palestinians living under Israeli military control, alongside hundreds of thousands of Israeli settlers. While much of the international community considers Israeli settlements illegal under international law, Israel disputes this position, citing historical and religious claims.
