U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking at the NATO Summit, claimed that his diplomatic efforts recently averted a potential nuclear conflict between Pakistan and India.

During his address, Trump praised Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, calling him "a good man and an impressive personality."

“Had I not intervened, the situation between Pakistan and India could have escalated into a nuclear confrontation,” Trump said.

Trump revealed that Field Marshal Asim Munir visited his office last week, where the two discussed the growing tensions in South Asia. According to Trump, Asim Munir understood the gravity of the situation and responded positively, which contributed to de-escalation.

Trump also said that he spoke directly with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, delivering a clear message:

“If you go to war, there will be no trade deals.” Trump claimed Modi responded by saying: “We want trade, not nuclear war.”

Trump emphasized that his approach was to encourage peace through economic incentives, urging both nations to focus on trade rather than conflict.

This is not the first time Trump has claimed to mediate between Pakistan and India, but his recent remarks have gained attention due to the heightened regional tensions and the rare acknowledgment of Field Marshal Asim Munir’s role on an international platform.
