The British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has stated that the Government can ban pro-Palestinian marches in certain circumstances because of the “cumulative effect” that they have on the Jewish community, following the stabbing of two Jewish men on Wednesday.

Speaking to the BBC, Starmer confirmed that he will always fight for the cause of freedom of expression and peaceful protests, however, “globalize the Intifada” kind of chants by demonstrators are “completely off limits,” and people behind such chants must be prosecuted.

The pro-Palestinian marches have turned into a recurring thing in London ever since the October attack by Hamas against Israel which led to the Gaza War.

The marchers have been accused of being hostile and providing antisemitic support.

The protesters claim that they are using their right to democracy to bring into notice the human rights and political problems associated with the situation in Gaza.

According to Starmer, he is in no way denying that “very strong legitimate views about the Middle East, about Gaza” do exist, but there are many people from the Jewish community who share concerns over the repetitiveness of the marches.
