US President orders probe into Congresswoman Ilhan Omar amid Minneapolis protests

US President Donald Trump has ordered the Department of Justice to investigate Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, one of his sharpest critics.

According to international news agencies, the Department of Justice, acting on Trump’s directive, has begun reviewing Congresswoman Omar’s wealth and financial dealings.

President Trump stated that investigative authorities are examining Congresswoman Omar, who arrived from Somalia with nothing and is now reportedly worth over $44 million. “Time will reveal all,” he added.

In a social media statement, Trump further said that investigations into welfare fraud exceeding $20 billion are ongoing in Minnesota, and accused Omar of inciting people to participate in violent protests.

Trump also announced that he is sending his border affairs adviser, Tom Homann, to Minnesota, who will report directly to him.

The statement comes amid widespread protests in Minneapolis following the death of nurse Alex Preiti, who was fatally shot by federal immigration officers.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, elected from Minneapolis and of Somali descent, strongly reacted to Trump’s remarks.

She stated on social media: “President Trump, your popularity is declining rapidly, and you are panicking. You are spreading lies and conspiracies about me to divert attention from your failures. Years of investigations have proven nothing. Remove your thugs from Minnesota.”

Reports indicate that the recent increase in Omar’s wealth is largely due to the business successes of her husband.
