Several pro-Khalistan Sikhs publicly challenged Indian media propaganda alleging a Pakistani attack on Amritsar. They also criticised the Modi-led government and its supporters for spreading claims that Pakistani forces targeted Gurdwaras, including the revered Golden Temple on May 8.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), a key Sikh representative body based in Amritsar, strongly refuted a statement by Indian analyst Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, who alleged that Pakistani artillery rockets were “on a trajectory to hit the Golden Temple.”
In response, the SGPC denounced the claim of an attack on Sri Harmandar Sahib (Golden Temple) as false and urged the Indian government to act against the spread of such disinformation.

"The Government must check such misinformation, fake news and rumour mongering amid the current escalation. It appears as if such misinformation is being spread deliberately under a conspiracy to cause panic and fear among the masses," it stated.
Several Khalistan-aligned Sikh activists also condemned a deliberate Indian attempt to stoke anti-Pakistan sentiment among the Sikh community by falsely suggesting that Pakistan intends to target Gurdwaras, including the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
On Thursday, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, clarified that Pakistan had not carried out any military action in urban areas of Indian Punjab. He stressed that Pakistan has acted with strategic restraint and responsibility in the face of Indian provocations.
“Pakistan has not taken any action in any urban area of Indian Punjab. As a responsible nation, we have exercised maximum strategic caution. However, Pakistan reserves the right to respond to Indian aggression at a time and place of its choosing,” the DG ISPR said.
He further revealed that Pakistani forces had recovered the debris of Indian drones from various locations, noting that India itself had collected remains of its downed aircraft and drones.
He added that an Indian drone was flying toward Nankana Sahib, questioning India's intentions, “Why is India targeting religious sites?”
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar categorically dismissed reports of a Pakistani strike on Amritsar, calling them baseless Indian propaganda.
“If India dares to commit any misadventure, it will face a strong and appropriate response,” he warned.
