Pakistan downed more than 70 Israeli-manufactured Indian drones since May 8, with the help of modern trackers installed in the radar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed to the media on Thursday.

Notably, India started sending its drones in Pakistan in the evening of May 8, after Pakistan destroyed five of its warplanes, including three Rafale jets. 

In a statement, the information minister said that Pakistan’s armed forces had destroyed at least 77 drones, including 29 up to the evening of May 8, with others being damaged earlier today, May 9, highlighting its strong defence capability.

"Pakistan is a peaceful country and it is our legal and moral right to defend ourselves against any aggression. Pakistan exercised this right responsibly and will continue to do so," he said.

The federal minister asserted that India attempted to hide its failure through false narratives were exposed globally, causing further embarrassment.

DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that all drones were being continuously monitored on radar. Whenever a drone enters Pakistan’s territory, it is immediately detected and neutralised.

He added Pakistan’s air defense system is equipped with modern technology that contains a high capability to trace even small drones.

According to DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Pakistan also possesses the operational procedures and techniques to engage drones in urban areas and during commercial flights.
