A couple who shared an extraordinary love story and had been married for 68 years passed away on the same day, just a few hours apart.

The 89-year-old Anne Beaumont was living in a care home with her husband Frank. Anne Beaumont died unexpectedly on August 19, 2024, after which her husband Frank also passed away a few hours later.

Frank, who was 91 and suffering from dementia, reportedly spent his last moments at a care home near West Yorkshire, where the two were known for their undying love for each other.

Their son, Ian Beaumont lamented the loss of their parents together, saying, “To us it's like they both planned it.”

He described his parents as fun-loving people who nurtured their family with love and instilled strong values in them.

“My parents were married for 68 years, they simply adored each other, they did 99.9% of everything together - whether that was my dad's football, he played for most of his life and mum always went along to support him,” he told the media.

“Equally my mum did a lot for the community and my dad was always on hand to support and help out too. They were very well regarded in the community,” the son added.

He mentioned that his father was admitted to a care home twelve months ago, and his mother joined him there four months later. She missed her husband dearly.

“Dad had dementia for about five years, up until then he was an active person, he was a life president, he continued to be involved in the football up until his early 80s. He slowly deteriorated as people with dementia do, it was imminent for dad, we all expected him to go first,” Ian recalled.

He continued, “So it was a huge shock when mum died first, I believe she died of a broken heart after receiving the news that things weren't looking great for dad. She was in seemingly good health right up until she passed. My mum was always dramatic so it made perfect sense!”

Ian Bunnet shared that his parents were deeply devoted to each other and travelled the world together. His father always cherished and adored his mother.
