Karachi police arrest rickshaw driver for harassing woman

Karachi police have arrested a rickshaw driver accused of harassing a woman in Sohrab Goth after a video of the incident surfaced online.

A first information report (FIR) has been registered against the suspect under sections related to harassment and kidnapping.

According to officials, the victim recorded the incident on her mobile phone and later shared it on social media. In the video, the woman can be seen shouting at the rickshaw driver, demanding that he drop her back at the same location where she was picked up.

The driver was seen standing outside the rickshaw, leaning toward the passenger seat, as the victim confronted him.

DIG East condemned the incident, stating that such acts are unacceptable, and directed police to take immediate action. Following his orders, the accused was taken into custody.

SHO Sohrab Goth Mumtaz Marwat praised the victim’s courage, noting that she managed to film the harassment despite being in a deserted area. 

Police confirmed that the investigation is underway and assured that strict action will be taken in line with the law.
